1940 was the year of change in Lithuania. The
Bolsheviks sifted everything starting from the Government to all societies. All societies had to
reregister. The DES was allowed to continue, however the activities of the museum were
impended by emigrations of museum curators, as well as exiles that were taking place. The museum was gradually ravaged by the Bolsheviks, German soldiers and the local population.
