The display presents the evolution of professional
Lithuanian ceramics. The beginning of professional production was in
1931 when a ceramics studio was set up at the Kaunas Art School with
clay processing equipment and furnaces installed. Fundamentals of
ceramics were tought by prof. L.Strolis whose works are displayed in the
exhibition. He worked on the development of technologies but above all
tried to model the style of Lithuanian ceramics. The exhibition presents
works by the graduates of the Kaunas Art School V.Miknevičius,
V.Manomaitis and others. As the demand for ceramics increased and the
number of artists engaged in it grew variety of styles and manners
appeared: from variations of ethnic form to decorative, abstract sizes. |
