Užutrakis manor and park are situated in Trakai historical national park.
Užutrakis manor was created upon the initiative of Juozapas Tiškevičius. Joseph Hus was the architect of the manor house. The park was laid out by a famous French landscape architect Edoard Francois Andre.
The neo-Renaissance palace was built in 1896-1901. There are seven representational halls with big rectangular windows on the ground floor. In the middle of this floor there is a vestibule and staircases. The interior of the halls was richly decorated. Living rooms were on the first floor. On the lakeshore of Galvė, a stone balustrade with a solid red bricks and broken stones supporting wall was built.
A well-known landscape architect and botanist Edoard Francois Andre created the original Užutrakis Park that was supposed to be a water park. A complicated system connecting more that 20 ponds and lakes was designed. |
